WoRLd oF mY oWn, My LiFe

CNY—> Lion dances, ten billion families’ worth of people serving tea in the living room spewing cantonese, with 4 generations worth of ppl trying to outdo each other with their 4 letter idioms. Kids running around, a random baby crying in the background, nicknamed babies being showcased to uncles and aunties. Everyone wearing red. Numerous relatives coming over to an already packed grandma’s house and drinking beer, eating nuts in the middle of the afternoon, have satay and lukluk stall parked right outside the house for dinner (just so that u can cater for all ur 4 generations worth of family members). The 2nd day of cny, drive over to the shop and having yet another lion dance!

Making new friends with all your cousins’ friends/classmates who came over, teasing em abt crushes and egging em on to say sumthg to the classmate who they find cute/have something for—-all this without letting the older generation, which are just like steps away, know. Introduction to random uncles/aunties who apparently saw u when u were just a baby/kidand their usual comments are "oh my, you have grown!" or "you look so much like ur (insert whichever possible close relative, usually father or mother). Then of course, everyone gets to play with those pop pops and sparklers, and if we’re lucky (and bold…more imptly, if our uncles have had enuf to drink), we might even take out the mother of all fireworks and troop out to the road and set em off. Then we will stand and laugh and have random uncles shouting n video-cameraing away, sayin stupid stuff like…."cheh, i think this firework is spoilt la….(in cantonese)" only to have it explode just a few feet away while he is walkin back to check. Somehow, the slang/wordings of cantonese just makes everything funny. And finally, the day ends with the frenly malay mata/polis driving a scooter to ur house saying "someone" complained….and of cuz we all chit chat for awhile, laugh and maybe some kopi money/hongbao is given in light of "festive spirit"….all this while distant whizzes of fireworks still go off in the background and fireworks light up the dark sky once in awhile. Uncles slowly start talking loudly, aunties gossip around and share about their lives/kids(mostly talkin abt the past), while OLD cousins share stories of work/relationships (and babies?), older (but not so old) cousins share secrets tt parents shldnt know, and the younger cousins run upstairs to the guest room and switch off the lights and jump around and whack around with pillows and bolsters. I used to be in between…first in the old category and then i’d join the young ones upstairs (1-9 yrs old), usually, they end up beating us up…in the hope tt we lift em up and swing em around crazily—-screaming, laughing kids in the dark. Well, that’s how we celebrate CNY each year. How about u?…Happy CNY to everyone once again!

This year’s cny, the Yao’s & Chu’s family are not around as my cousins will be having exams after cny. *pity* Anyway, all the best to them. Those questions such as, are u d one who studies in tarc?, what course r u taking?, How is it……and so on…..All these questions are asked by my relatives but I dun even know who r they. lol! I juz answered when they asked. I hv to make things really clear that I’m not involving in any relationship now. I don’t have bf…Pls do trust me. All of them thought I’m trying to cover up. sigh~ but actually I really don’t have. lol! During the 2nd day if cny, my cousins frm australia came back to visit us. This is the 1st time I met them and I dun even know they are my cousins…until my other cousins told me. *paiseh* So many cousins but I really seldom or never even meet them so I apologize if I can;t recignize them. hehe… Victoria & Edward are very cute…Although they are only aged 5-10 years old but their english is superb. Hope to meet them again!

Sheryl is so cute…omg!!! I really like her. Every1 luvs her…:) She is 5 years old now but she can talk a lot with u. She even wants be to be her patient & she is my doctor. Such a cute gal. Goin to miss her lots! Rachael(Sheryl sis) got a lot of common with me. I’m surprised that she watches football & her favourite club is MAN U…haha!!! Same as me lo…

I hv juz attended a gathering yesterday night. They are my ex-classmates. There are so many things to catch up…Looking forward to d next gathering. Till then, all d best to them! I was exhausted now…sleepless night during cny. haha! Moreover, I juz came back frm work today….:/ ~tiring~

CNY is just around the corner…Busy? lol! Today, I got a surprise from a long-lost fren. It’s been a long time we nvr keep in touch and I thought I will lost contact with her forever. It’s been like 8 years…if im not mistaken. I’m glad that she found me…Thx 4 still remember me. You’re the best! Wishing all my family, frenz…and everyone a very Happy Chinese New Year. During this festive season, I can eat lots of delicious food….buffet, ‘luk luk’, satay……all those food that we seldom eat during our daily life. haha! Hope to get more ang pows too. Adios!

Finally, exam has over…I don’t hv to sit at the same place & study. Lol! Juz hope & pray for the best. I’m going to miss my housemates ler.. They won’t be staying at 2330 next semester as they are going for practical training. Gonna miss them a lot!!! Erin, Regina, Danise and Mei Jane is the best hsemates that I hv ever had. Thanks for alwiz being there for me when Im sad & troubled. Although I seldom be with them but when it comes to dinner, movie, games…I won’t miss it! Not forgetting, during exams period…that’s the time when i spend most of the time with them. Enjoy studying with them. haha!!! Coz I alwiz disturb & kacau. hehe… Well, Im going to miss all this moments that I’ve spent with them. :/ Wish them all d best during practical training.
